And that is exactly our claim at Müller Small Living: We love permanently stable furniture with timeless design that can withstand several moves without damage.
Comfortable cushions and pillows

We offer bed accessories that perfectly match the STAPELLIEGE, such as bed drawers, bedside tables, a fall-out guard for children, a shelf and much more. You can also buy it as a complete package including slatted frame and mattress. Particularly important: this way you can be sure that the mattress height does not hinder stackability.

Product details
The STACKING BED by Rolf Heide, the space-saving stacking bed, has been making design history since 1966.
The dismountable stacking bed consists of four wooden parts as well as connecting elements and is complemented by a slatted frame and mattress. It is extremely space-saving, because several beds can be stacked on top of each other quickly and easily.
The timeless design of the original STACKING BED best epitomises Rolf Heide's design credo: simple, high-quality materials are brought together in an impressively logical way and are given their typical appearance by a single, ingenious idea: in this case through the sweeping rounding of the side panels (stackability).
The stacking bed can be used either as a single bed, double bed or as a spontaneous guest bed. The STACKING BED can also be used as a couch in combination with the matching back cushions and a mattress with removable fabric covers from our fabric collection. On request, we can also supply the STACKING BED as a comfortable futon bed in the size 140 x 200 cm.
The right mattress and the right slatted frame for the stacking bed
Depending on the stacking bed model, there are different possible combinations of mattress and slatted frame. In this blog post, we give you an overview of suitable combinations and their comfort features.

Centre rail bed
From a width of 120 cm, we recommend using the centre rail for STACKING BEDS to stabilise the slatted frame in the middle. If two slatted frames are to be inserted into the stacking bed, the centre rail is essential.
Stacking beds
Up to ten beds can be stacked on top of each other.
Slatted frames
Our adjustable slatted frame and rigid slatted frame are specially designed for the STACKING BED
customised. Therefore, non-factory slatted frames do not usually fit.
With our slatted frames, we make sure that there is a small cut-out at the head and foot. This is necessary to insert the slatted frames into the STACKING BED. Without this cut-out, the slatted frame can collide with the screws on the inside of the bracket and cannot be inserted correctly. Unfortunately, we are therefore unable to guarantee the accuracy of fit for third-party slatted frames.
Mattress height
STACKING BED Classic:
Slatted frame + 140 mm high mattress or solid wood frame + 100 mm high mattress
STACKING BED Comfort:
Slatted frame + 140 mm to max. 180 mm high mattress or solid wood frame + 140 mm high mattress
We recommend the use of our mattresses.
Space between two STACKING BEDS Classic
The spaces that occur with the stacking bed Classic when two beds are stacked depend largely on the respective position of the brackets and can therefore be adapted to your own requirements.
Load capacity
No restriction on the frame.
The load limit is defined by the
slatted frame.

The stacking bed is delivered disassembled and must be assembled on site; assembly instructions and all necessary fittings and tools are included with the delivery. - Third-party slats / cut-out on our slatted frames
With our slatted frames, we ensure there is a small cut-out at both the head and foot. This is necessary to insert the slatted frames into the stacking bed. Without this cut-out, the slatted frame can collide with the inner angle bracket screws and cannot be inserted correctly. Unfortunately, we therefore cannot guarantee an accurate fit for third-party slats. - What material is the stacking bed made from?
Production uses 9-ply laminated plywood; the material thickness is 15 mm. You can find an explanation of our CPL coating in our blog. - Which slatted frames & mattresses do we recommend?
The right mattress and slatted frame for the stacking bed Depending on the stacking bed model, different combinations of mattress and slatted frame are possible. In this blog post, we give you an overview of suitable combinations and their comfort features.
to the blog post - Which slatted frame heights and mattress heights are suitable?

Please also refer to our FAQ “Spacing between two stacking beds”. - What exactly is the difference between comfort height and classic height?
The difference is exactly 40 mm, i.e. the comfort height is 40 mm higher than the classic version. When stacked this results in a difference of 80 mm.
Stacking Bed Classic: single 235 mm, two beds stacked 400 mm
Stacking Bed Comfort: single 275 mm, two beds stacked 480 mm - How much does the Classic / Comfort stacking bed weigh?
The frame itself weighs (depending on variant) between 17-19 kg; including slatted frame and mattress, one bed frame weighs approx. 39 kg. - How wide is the stacking bed as a double bed / standing side by side?
The external dimensions of the stacking bed are of course made up of the chosen width and length plus the thickness of the material. The external measurement is basically +30 mm in both length and width. For an internal measurement of 900 x 2000 mm this corresponds to 930 x 2030 mm. For a double bed made from 2 x 900 x 2000 mm beds, the external measurement would therefore be 1860 x 2030 mm. - Can comfort height and standard height be stacked together?
Yes, this is not a problem. Classic and Comfort height can be stacked on top of each other. However, please note that, when placed side by side, there will be a height difference of 40 mm between the two variants. - How many stacking beds can be stacked?
We recommend not exceeding a stacking height of 10 beds. - What are the outer and inner measurements of the stacking bed?
The internal measurements are the lying surface itself. The external dimensions are +30 mm on both length and width compared to the lying surface. See also item 9. - Maximum load / maximum weight of the stacking bed?
The maximum load of the stacking bed depends primarily on the selected slatted frame. - Can the bed also be used individually?
Yes, the stacking bed can also be used individually. This way, the stacking bed becomes a kind of futon bed. - Is the stacking bed the original?
Yes, this stacking bed is the original by Rolf Heide. The design by the renowned designer dates back to 1966. - What is the gap between mattresses when two stacking beds are placed side by side?
The gap between the mattresses is exactly 30 mm. - Can you stack / unstack the bed by yourself?
We recommend always assembling and disassembling with two people. - Can FLAI ADD-ONS be attached to the stacking bed?
No, unfortunately the FLAI ADD-ONS do not fit the stacking bed. This is due to the different material thickness of the two products. The FLAI bed has a thickness of 18 mm, the stacking bed 15 mm. - How much storage space is under the stacking bed?
The distance between the floor and the bed is 100 mm for the Classic version and 130 mm for the Comfort version. - Why is the bed especially advantageous for children’s rooms?
Thanks to the bed's stacking function, you can turn one bed into two in no time. This means that one of the beds can quickly be converted into a guest bed. - Where can I find spare parts and screw sets?
You can find screw sets here. For other spare parts, please contact Mrs Uhlendorf. She is responsible for spare parts and complaints. Iris Uhlendorf, 04453 98 23 44, i.uhlendorf@muellermoebel.de - How do I avoid different lying heights with different configurations
