Is your STAPELLIEGE museum-worthy?

A call for support for design history.

The STAPELLIEGE, an icon of German design created by Rolf Heide in 1966, has become a true classic. With its elegant appearance and curved side frames, it has won the hearts of many design enthusiasts and become a symbol of intelligent interior design. Even more than 55 years after its initial introduction, the Stapelliege remains a contemporary statement, especially in times when living space is becoming increasingly scarce and the search for space-saving solutions plays a central role.

We are currently looking for STAPELLIEGE from the early years of production, especially those from 1966-1969, with the aim of using them for museum purposes.

We would like to document the design history of the STACKABLE SUNBED and make it available on loan to relevant museums, e.g. the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg or Die Neue Sammlung Staatliches Museum für angewandte Kunst München.

We would like to cordially invite you to support us in this endeavour.

If you own STAPELLIEGEN from the early years of production and are interested in exchanging them for new STAPELLIEGEN, we would be delighted to hear from you. In order to be able to make an assessment, we need detailed close-up photos of the beds as well as information about their origin and purchase.

Your support is priceless to us in documenting the design history of the STAPELLIEGE and preserving it for future generations. Together, we can help to honour and preserve this unique piece of German design culture.
