Thinking one
step ahead

At Müller Small Living we assume sustainable responsibility: ecologically, economically and socially. As a fifth-generation family business, we are proud that we have been manufacturing our products ourselves at our headquarters in Bockhorn, Frisia, for more than 150 years.

Improving the ecological footprint

In order to achieve our goal of CO₂-neutral production, we recently modernised our company headquarters in terms of energy efficiency, equipped it with a 1,000 m2 photovoltaic system and converted our car fleet to electric technology.

100 % green electricity

We now produce 100 per cent of our electricity from renewable energy sources. We generate around half of this from our own photovoltaic system, while the other half consists of certified green electricity Naturwatt Pro from EWE. This saves us around 80 tonnes of CO₂ per year.

Holzspäne

Heating without oil and gas

We heat with wood waste from production. We also operate a heat recovery system that utilises the heat from the exhaust air for heating. This allows us to completely dispense with oil and gas.

Environmentally friendly packaging

With the help of our modern cardboard cutting machine and intelligent packaging solutions, we ensure significantly reduced waste volumes. Our furniture packaging also consists of almost 100 per cent recycled paper; we avoid plastics.

Durable furniture

With all our furniture, we aim to produce durable, stable furniture with a timeless design that can withstand several moves without damage and can therefore be used for decades. In this context, it is important to us that we guarantee our customers a continuous supply of spare parts, even for "older" models.

Our philosophy

Birken

Sustainable production

We attach great importance to environmentally friendly and sustainable production. In order to use as few resources as possible, we only use high-quality and durable materials and raw materials. These include, above all, FSC-certified wood from exclusively FSC-certified suppliers, preferably from the region. Alternatively, we use birch veneer plywood, produced from fast-growing stocks in Finland.

Commitment to environmental protection

We love the old trees on our company premises. A few years ago, we also launched a nesting box initiative to provide native songbirds with a variety of breeding opportunities on our company premises. At the same time, we are committed to environmental protection in our community and therefore support the "Freunde des Neuenburger Holzes e.V." association.

The "Neuenburger Urwald" forest in the immediate vicinity of our company headquarters is one of the most important forests in the East Frisian-Oldenburg Geest. A special feature here are the mighty, up to 800-year-old oaks with trunks up to six metres tall! With our membership of the association, we pay our respects to the forest and are strongly committed to its preservation. After all, healthy forests are not only an important building block for an intact environment, they also form the basis for our work.

Equal rights & inclusion

We attach great importance to an open and collegial working atmosphere. We are therefore proud that some employees have been working for our family business for decades.

Promoting equal rights is very important to us. We have therefore been a member of the inter-company association "Frauen und Wirtschaft e.V." for many years. At the same time, we live inclusion and see it as a task for society as a whole. This is why we work in partnership with GPS Friesland and currently employ three people with disabilities.

E-mobility & Jobrad

In recent years, we have completely converted our car fleet to e-technology and also installed our own e-charging station in our company car park.

We support our employees who want to cycle to work. In cooperation with the company "JobRad", we therefore promote the purchase of pedelecs.

We train

In order to retain young people and offer them a solid basis for a successful and fulfilling career, we regularly train carpenters, industrial clerks and e-commerce clerks.
We also work closely with young designers and design students when designing our furniture, most recently in co-operation with the Bauhaus University Weimar, for example.
